What Is This?

This site is the first I've launched that is publicly available.
I've been working on it every day for a while now, and I'm starting to realize that there won't ever be a definitive "it's finished" moment, so my goal is to get it as close as I can to something I feel is useful to someone besides myself before I have to submit it as my final project for the CS course I'm taking (CS50).

What Can You Do On This Site? (or "Features")

You can...

• Create an account
• Change your password
• Upload a profile picture
• Make a post (Title and body test (words that say stuff))
• Upload an image with your post
• Embed a YouTube video in your post
• Edit your posts (including changing your image)
• Delete your posts
• View all posts from a user
• Change your profile picture
• Delete your account
• View 5000+ pictures of our planet from around the world
  • You can now sort all images by name, file size, or date added
  • You can now search all images
• Pet a squirrel (coming soon!)

A Few Notes About This Site

• There is no sidebar. I greatly dislike sidebars that don't fold away and take up 1/3 to 1/2 the page, so if I do add one, it'll be the use-it-and-get-it-outta-my-way kind.
• This site is secure and encrypted so none of your data can be easily viewed or manipulated by an unknown third party
• Your password is securely hashed and stored in a database (I don't have access to it)
• Yes, this site is dark with light text. Life's too short to stare at a big rectangular white light just to view some content, especially considering how much data we have showing the significant deteriorative effects LEDs have on our eyes, and how deleterious their light is on our sleep hygiene
• I will never, for any reason whatsoever, sell, share, or otherwise distribute your personal data. This includes your username, email address, and password, which I have access to only in its encrypted form.
• Any content uploaded to this site is the sole property of the poster or uploading user. This includes any images and/or text. Furthermore, this content will never be used for any personal, monetary, political, or, social gain for, or by, me or any individual associated with gigglepocket.com without the expressed, written permission of the poster, or uploading user.
• Any content uploaded, and/or displayed on this site is for educational purposes only.

What Can't You Do On This Site (or what I haven't got around to implementing)

You cannot...

• Sort posts
• Change your password while logged in
• Pet a squirrel (I know already. I'm working on it!)
• Anything else

Site Specifics

• Images
  • Each user is allotted 50MB of upload space per diem
  • This site has 1GB of upload space allotted per diem, so if 20 users upload their allotment in one day, uploads will be prevented until the following day
  • Upload allotments reset at midnight PST
  • Allowed filetypes are
    • gif (hard G)
    • jpg or jpeg
    • png
    • More to come!
• Passwords
  • Passwords only need be 8 characters long. All other requirements have been removed as many people simply do not wish to bother with them.
    All passwords must contain two each of the following
    • Uppercase letters
    • Lowercase letters
    • Numbers
    • Special characters
• Embedding Videos
  • To embed a youtube video, just paste its url anywhere in the Content Or Image Description field
  • The url will be replaced with VIDEO BELOW in the Post Text section and the video will be shown in the section below, cleverly titled Video
  • This supports embedding regular youtube.com, youtu.be mobile, and youtube.com/shorts short, links
  • I've made it a point to embed these videos without tracking cookies because I don't want to help Google track you
